Casting event safety rules for all our safety


Safety procedures


Main line a minimum of 0.35 for leads of 175grm
Main line a minimum of 0.31 for leads of 150grm
Main line a minimum of 0.28 for leads of 125grm
Main line a minimum of 0.25 for leads of 100grm

Minimum shockleader strength 50lb for leads up to 125grm
Minimum shockleader strength 70lb for leads over 125grm
Only monofilament line to be used


The area to the right of the oche shall be out of bounds to all members and spectators when casting is in progress. No member or visitor will be allowed to cast if any persons are in this area or in visible crack off range.

1. All participants are responsible for the safety of all that attend an SFW event. If you see a danger it is you duty to bring it to the attention of the officials that are responsible for the running of that event.

2. All participants are to comply with the Link, Line and Shock leader rule, this will be determined by the weight of lead that you are casting

3. Any member or visitor who will fully breaks any or all of the safety rules may be excluded from the event.

Rules

1. All casters must book in and pay before commencing

2. All casters must read and understand induction pack, fill in contact details and hand it to the safety officer ( First visit only )

3. All members will assemble in there group order prior to the start of the casting round.

4. Group 3 (sub 200 meters ) will cast first

5. Group 2 ( 2 casts over 200 meters in competition ) will cast second

6. Group 1 ( 3 casts over 230 meters in competition ) will cast last

7. All members will stamp there leads with their number, this means all leads in all categories. If you have not been given you number then please request one.

8. No swivel attachments to be used directly to leads.

9. Casts must be made with any of the mandatory leads

10. One foot over the oche will result in disqualification of that round.

11. After casting, each member will place there rods in the rod rests provided to the furthermost left hand side. This will avoid lines being crossed when reeling in.

12. Members are only allowed to reel in their own lines. When reeling in please keep your lines tight to avoid other casters standing on your line causing it to break.

13. When retrieving you lines please do so with consideration, all walk in orderly manner in a line if possible.

14. All "crack offs" must be reported, and it is your duty to make every effort to locate it. If you are unable to find it, casting may have to be stopped to enable all members to search for it.

15. To assist with the running of the event it is important for all casters to return to the casting area as soon as possible.
16. It is your responsibility to make sure that your cast has been recorded, as adjustments cannot be made later.

17. Only casts measured using the tape and witnessed by a committee member will count and can be recorded.

18. The SCW committee maintains the right to examine the tackle of any member.

19. Each member will only be allowed ONE cast per round, however in the event of any member having to miss a cast owing to an occurrence that he/she had no control over then he/she may be allowed to cast out of turn. This rule is relaxed if only 10 or less attending but the second cast will not be recorded.

20. It is the responsibility of each and every person at the event to adhere to all of the above rules. Any people who in the opinion of the committee wilfully ignore any or all of the above safety or casting rules will be asked to leave the field.

21. It is your responsibility to ensure that your vehicle is suitable to get on and off the field, if you do get stuck please ask for help. This is not the landowners responsibility and he will not be asked assist you, it is yours.

22. Stand well back behind the guidelines when casting in operation.

23. Do not pull another competitors lead from the ground unless asked to do so.

24. Litter anyone willfully leaving litter around will be asked to leave.

25. Speed limit of 10 mph in force at all times.
